OOTD: Racing Stripes

Tuesday 24 February 2015
Coat: Primark | Crop Top: Missguided (old) | Trousers: New Look | Shoes: Asos | Necklace: Jade Vine* | Ring: Noviembre*

I literally can't get enough of this colour palette + stripes combo...

Yes, it's that Primark trench coat again! (I am so boring.) But seriously, I just can't get enough of the oversized but chic silhouette it creates. Plus, it's kind of the only thing in my wardrobe of that shade, but I hope that'll change soon!

Unlike the last post, I went in the opposite direction and opted for striped bottoms instead. It's a lovely slouchy fit with a cloth belt to cinch in the waist for an hourglass figure. I know the print can come off as pyjama-y, especially on trousers, but I tried to keep things sleek with that little bit of height and clashing print from my pointed loafers. I've not mixed prints much before, so kept the look simple with the prints coming from the same colour scheme.

As you can tell, I keep my accessories to a minimum when I do wear them, but make sure they're statement and eye-catching pieces! This lovely aqua necklace courtesy of Jade Vine changes colour in the light, and is ever so pretty and versatile. Plus, I'm such a sucker for raw, uncut pieces! The owner is currently based in Singapore, my home country, although Jade Vine operates from the UK. Most of the pieces on the site are very ethnic and tribal, but I think there are a few pieces which can definitely complement a wider variety of outfits like this one I'm wearing.

Another bit of bling I'm sporting here is my new Noviembre gold delmar shell ring, which goes beautifully with the similar tones in the necklace and coat. I've been a fan of Noviembre for ages now, and like Jade Vine, it specialises in 'raw' jewellery, and all for a very affordable price! I have a similar ring in purple, but couldn't resist another one, considering how gorgeous it looks when it catches the light.

So what do you think of my take on the neutral colour scheme/stripes trend? Let me know in your comments! x
