OOTD: Fur Trim Dress

Sunday, 7 December 2014
Coat: boohoo | Dress: boohoo | Sunglasses: Asos | Bag: Asos | Shoes: Hidden Fashion

Finally, an outfit post! I've been swamped with events the past couple of weeks, which I've been blogging about, but have managed to capture everything I've been wearing lately. Like I've mentioned before, faux fur is really in this season, and why not? It's super cute and warm, and makes for an interesting texture to spice up any outfit.

I wore this navy fur trim boohoo dress to Rock on Ruby's Christmas party last weekend, and I could hardly believe how flattering it was! I usually shy away from bodycon dresses because I get a little self-conscious about my body, but this fit me like a glove and somehow made me look slimmer. Loads of people loved it and asked me where I bought it from (I think I even convinced a blogger friend to buy one)! I braved the weather with some bare legs, I couldn't do the dress an injustice and clomp around in tights, but did try to have some 'protection' with a long coat.

The dress is in stock in white and black snap it up if you can, it's so worth it! x

Rock on Ruby's Christmas Party

Thursday, 4 December 2014

Last Saturday, I was invited to attend a bloggers' Christmas party courtesy of Rock on Ruby, a slogan tee company based in Manchester and run by my friend, Holly! I think it's so amazing that she's both a blogger and a savvy businesswoman, do check her out.

I haven't been to many events, but I had the best time at Rock on Ruby's party. I was greeted by Holly herself on arrival at Cane & Grain in the Northern Quarter, and had a few hugs with other bloggers I had met before. Then it was straight to the bar, where we were handed some prettily pink and surprisingly Christmassy cocktails made by Cane & Grain's bartender just for the occasion!

There were cupcakes, mince pies and a pick-and-mix (which I very happily took advantage of) to whet our appetite. I also took loads of shots with some other bloggers at the designated photo area, seems like you can see some of that Asian flush going on :s

There were activities going on, too, like a 'design your own slogan tee/sweatshirt' table - I was boring and just wrote 'Full-time online shopper' on mine! I also had fun watching a Frozen-themed make-up demonstration going on near the bar.

My favourite activity was the 'style challenge' the Rock on Rubies gave us, namely matching up their tops with some one-off vintage pieces from Blue Rinse Manchester. You can see mine on my Instagram page, I do hope I win!

Lastly, we were given a preview of Rock on Ruby's new gym range. As a gym bunny myself, I really related to a lot of the slogans and was clamouring to buy everything. I'm definitely getting myself the 'Exercise? I thought you said extra fries!' one for myself, how funny is that?!

Many thanks to Holly and the other Rubies (can I call you girls that?) for the invite, I had such a blast xx

OOTD: Clueless

Thursday, 27 November 2014
Headband: Primark | Coat: Topshop | Top: Asos | Skirt: Missguided | Shoes: HIdden Fashion* | Ring: Accessorize

This week is busy, busy, busy! I've got loads of events to attend this week and have been running around trying to finish up my work and errands beforehand.

I wore this look to school the other day, and isn't that skirt just appropriate? Very Cher Horowitz from the movie Clueless, a modern take on my favourite Jane Austen novel, Emma. It's too bad I didn't dare wear my knee high socks out! But as you can see, the weather is still fairly tolerable so I've been able to go sleeveless with a coat thrown over to beat the cold. My chunky loafers completed my boarding school prep look, but truth be told they're a little big for me, even with insoles. I'm thinking of selling them off, any potential buyers out there? x

OOTD: Town Hall

Wednesday, 29 October 2014
Coat: boohoo | Top: Asos | Pants: Asos | Shoes: Hidden Fashion | Necklaces and Ring: Noviembre*

I met up with the UoM BlogSoc the other day for the first time, where we had an OOTD Day over at the town hall! This involved a lot of us basically posing for our ootd shots, and I was actually the last to arrive and thus the last to finish... #awkward. Sorry for the hold-up, girls!

I tried to go for a bit of a darker, 'witchy' look just in time for Halloween, and wore my awesome boohoo coat once again for this shoot. It may be a duster but it kept me relatively warm in the drizzle on the way over! Plus it works so well with heels and trousers, the whole combination really lengthens my silhouette.

I pulled the look together with some light accessories to match my pale bottoms, courtesy of Becca over at Noviembre. I only ordered the three-strand necklace from her store, which comes in custom lengths, but she also mailed me that amazing delmar shell ring I'm wearing, and which I would have honestly bought if it had been up on the site at the time. The package also included a lovely note to say thank you!

I've got an amazing Halloween costume planned which I'll post later this week, but what about you guys? x

OOTD: Maxi Coat

Monday, 27 October 2014
Coat: Boohoo | Dress: Hidden Fashion * | Bag: Primark | Necklace: Topshop | Shoes: Nike

I went back to my new favourite restaurant, Montpellier's, the other day, which is also coincidentally the best place in Manchester to take my #ootds! I'm especially loving the way this shoot turned out - there's a bit of an image spam below. :s Kudos to my very patient friend, Tricia, for the awesome snaps!

I've tried to be more adventurous lately, wearing things I wouldn't have dared to, like this maxi coat. It's a far cry from Sherlock's Belstaff in Sherlock BBC, but it's got the same dramatic flair - check out the way it billows when I twirl! Despite the thin material, it kept me really warm on what was a pretty windy day.

My dress was a retro number from Hidden Fashion, only costing £5! Can you believe that value?

I'm off to start my Reading Week in Scarborough for a farm-stay - and bringing loads of clothes to shoot in the countryside! Keep your eyes peeled for posts of that x

OOTD: Baroque Mini

Tuesday, 14 October 2014
Sweater: Uniqlo | Skirt: Hidden Fashion* | Necklace: Kollidea* | Ankle socks: Topshop | Boots: Asos

I spent my whole weekend in my bed of tissues, warming myself around mugs of hot tea and Chinese medicine to chase away the cold that's been plaguing me! :( Darn those changes in weather.

Before that, though, I wore this cute number out for a lunch at SoLita Bar and Restaurant here in Manchester. It was pretty windy (maybe that's why I got my cold?), but my Heattech Uniqlo turtleneck was perfect for the temperature and effortlessly stylish, too. I received the printed mini from Hidden Fashion some time ago, although it's spot-on for the A/W trend of baroque floral prints. I finished off the look with some delicate accessories from Kollidea, and a peek of frilly ankle socks!

Speaking of SoLita, I highly recommend the place for their special (available for a limited time only), the Breville Without a Cause! Instead of the regular buns you find on burgers, they use grilled cheese toast (brevilles) and cheekily note that it's "not for girls". Well, I shared it with my friend, so I managed to get away with it!

OOTD: Day Trip

Sunday, 21 September 2014
Dress: Hidden Fashion* // Bag: Primark // Trainers: Nike // Sunglasses: ASOS // Watch: tickintorque*

It's been a while since I posted last (what else is new?), and I'm finally back in the UK, ready to begin my final year of uni. I've been moving into my new flat, unpacking and shopping for supplies like crazy, so it was such a relief to escape the buzz of city life for a day trip to York.

Here I'm wearing something similar to my last post - the dress and Nike combination! I'm really loving my new trainers, which I can tell are going to be a staple piece in my wardrobe. The dress is an old gift from Hidden Fashion, back when I won their giveaway competition. And how smart is my gorgeous bag from Primark? It's super sturdy (my DSLR weighed almost nothing in it) and a clever dupe of an ASOS piece I've been eyeing for ages.

Have a great school year ahead, everyone! :)
