OOTD: Fringe + Flare

Tuesday, 27 January 2015
Cape: Boohoo* | Jeans: Boohoo* | Top: Pull & Bear (Spain) | Scarf: H&M (old) | Boots: Asos

It feels fantastic to get out of the house for once, and to actually put in effort for my outfits rather than being all sloth-like at home in my jammies. A lot of bloggers I follow have been raving about flared jeans, so I thought it was time for me to jump on the bandwagon and get myself a pair!

This pair was purchased with store credit from Boohoo, and are soft to the touch without compromising on the structured flare which are oh-so retro. I don't have any jeans in this almost-brilliant blue, either, so it was a pretty good addition to my wardrobe.

I upped the casual 70s vibe with a fringe cape (gifted ages ago at the Fashionchick event) and pointed suede boots, just because when I do a trend, I tend to go OTT! I definitely recommend wearing flares with heels or boots, like I did here, to give you the illusion of mile-long legs. I think I'd look like a stunted tree if I wore my usual flats!

Do keep an eye out for more beauty and food related posts as I try to stop being all narcissistic and stop just posting my outfits!

OOTD: On Hindsight

Thursday, 1 January 2015
Hat: H&M | Dress: Asos | Boots: Public Desire

Happy New Year, folks! To sounds extremely cliché, yes, time does fly by, especially when you're having fun. Looking back on 2014, I've got to say it was a roller-coaster ride all around with plenty of new experiences. It was the year I got into blogging, learned some hard but useful truths, and started seriously thinking about my future. I've learned a lot in the past year, and hope to continue my growth into 2015.

My outfit today is a retrospective one to suit the mood. I shot this sometime in November, before the chill hit us, and yup, those are my trust PD boots once again! They've gone out of stock, sadly, but PD restocks regularly, so just keep checking the site. I also found the perfect ASOS shirt dress that hits right above my knees and goes great with the boots, showing that tiny bit of bare leg which is all the rage right now. I finished off with my bowler hat, which prepped up my look.

I haven't made any specific New Year resolutions - just the usual 'work hard and smart' mantra that I've had going for me for a while now. I did compile a 2015 'To Do Travel List', though, which includes couch-surfing, driving without killing anyone, and spending a day lost in a city!

Did you guys make any resolutions, and if so, what? x

OOTD: Boxing Day Buys

Monday, 29 December 2014
Hat: H&M | Top: Urban Outfitters | Skirt: Forever 21 | Boots: Public Desire (similar) | Bag: Charles & Keith | Coat: Topshop

Christmas may be over, but I'm definitely still in a holiday mood! My days are spent switching between old reruns of Parks and Recreation and actually doing some studying for the exams in January, of course while wearing fluffy socks and armed with mugs of hot tea.

Despite the cold, I'm trying not to blend into the sea of blacks and greys everyone seems to be wrapped up in. My favourite pick from the Boxing Day sales is this red matchstick jumper from Urban Outfitters, which is really cosy and has a cute print at the same time. Another new buy are my faux suede knee high boots from Public Desire, which really protect me against the cold and look great with a flippy skater skirt.

Did you all have a good Christmas? What did everyone buy in the Boxing Day sales, and did you break the bank like I did?

OOTD: Forest Green

Wednesday, 10 December 2014
Turtleneck: Pull & Bear | Dress: Urban Outfitters | Boots: Asos | Watch: tickintorque* | Hat: H&M

As the weather gets colder, I start to pile the layers up! Manchester hasn't had any snow thus far, but it did hail very suddenly a couple of days back. I was lucky enough to snap a few photos before it got too bad, though!

I'm still feeling very sixties-inspired with my ensemble here, the roll-neck top/shift dress combination is just too chic to pass up. The V-neck dress shook things up a bit with the unique cut and colour, though, and feels super Christmassy! What do you think? x

OOTD: Do the Polka

Monday, 3 November 2014
Dress: boohoo | Hat: H&M | Bag: Topshop | Heels: New Look

Things have been a little quiet around here - I've been showing my friend around Manchester and also enjoying the Halloween weekend! I went as a (rusty) Tin Woman a la The Wizard of Oz, which you can check out on my instagram. I didn't manage to get any really nice photos, but I did have a pretty good time all around!

Another friend of mine recently celebrated her 22nd birthday, and for her party she went with a vintage theme. Obviously, this was really broad, but I went with a 50s vibe with a halter-neck polka dot dress I spied online. How great does it look dressed up! The navy mesh peeking out from the hemline also keeps things modern, and I jazzed up the look with a fire engine red satchel and matching lippy.

Excuse the last couple of shots - I was twirling around to shoot the fullness of the skirt, but lost my balance a couple of times in my heels! :X

Anyway, it's back to school (and tackling coursework) for me this week after all the fun of my break!

OOTD: That Coat!

Friday, 17 October 2014
Coat: Missguided | Hat: H&M | Top: H&M | Skirt: Forever 21 | Boots: Asos
I've been needing a new winter coat for this year, and when I saw this Missguided piece, my heart (and money) was lost! It helped that loads of bloggers picked it up as well, so I could see for myself how the long silhouette could be worn in so many different ways.

Although I was a little apprehensive as to how good the quality would be, the coat really is warm all the way down to mid-calf. Speaking of the length, I love how it automatically makes me seem taller than I actually am - paired with some heeled boots and I feel like I'm ready to take on the world!

The work is starting to pile up at uni, so I'm not sure how often I can update this blog, but here's hoping x

OOTD: Check It Out

Saturday, 11 October 2014
Dress: H&M | Coat: Miss Selfridge | Boots: Asos | Hat: H&M | Necklace: Forever 21 | Bag: Primark

I've been venturing out of the city centre lately to make the most of my last year in Manchester. It's been really boring visiting the same places over and over again, especially for a foodie like me - there's only so many times I can eat the same cakes and not get tired of them, no matter how good they taste.

I wore this cute combo on one such adventure to Withington (I'd never been there before, so I'm entitled to call it an adventure!), and funnily enough, my checkered dress matched the tabletop of our table at And The Dish Ran Away With the Spoon! :x They served up some really awesome scones, cake and brownie, and I'm secretly pleased my dress was loose-fitting - I had a food baby after all those treats!

Does anyone have any suggestions on places to visit here in Manchester? I'm thinking Heaton Park next!

OOTD: Roll Neck Sweater

Wednesday, 8 October 2014
Hat: H&M | Sweater: Forever 21 | Jeans: Topshop | Shoes: New Look | Bag: Primark

It was a bit of a mistake wearing this outfit to lecture yesterday - it started raining cats and dogs, and my feet definitely got soaked! I feel so sorry for my hat and bag, which got most of the rain, but was so grateful for my roll-neck jumper - it's bang on trend and so cosy! Plus it gives any look a great injection of colour.

I snapped up the Topshop Leigh jeans at the most recent Student Lock-In event at Trafford Centre. Who can resist a hefty 20% discount? I'm a big fan of Topshop's jeans, which are super comfy and wear and tear-resistant. I'm also pretty happy with the way they look, paired with some heels like my new buys from New Look.

OOTD: Tartan Blanket

Thursday, 2 October 2014
Hat: H&M | Top: Missguided | Skirt: Miss Selfridge | Boots: ASOS | Necklace: Topshop | Blanket: Primark

Found a new photo spot, i.e. the car park of my apartment building! Many thanks to my resourceful flatmate for the idea (her edgy outfit was perfect for this setting), it's great for the darker tones my wardrobe has recently been seeing, and I had a lot of fun shooting with my new blanket/scarf.

There has been a lot of hype about the blanket trend, popularised by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a cosy Burberry piece. I'm currently hunting for something in a similar shade of camel, but couldn't resist picking up this statement piece from my local Primark. The maroon and navy shades are so Autumn-ready, with a cute dogtooth print on the reverse - so worth it for only £6!

I do wish that the blanket was more jacket-like, with proper sleeves, but it makes for lovely outerwear or even a throw to snuggle up to at home!

OOTD: Fringe Bag

Friday, 26 September 2014
Bag: Primark | Jumper: ASOS | Skirt: ASOS | Boots: ASOS |  Druzy Necklace: hollymolly* | Hat: H&M

I've been wanting a fringe accessory for ages ever since this year's festival season started, but strangely enough the summer pieces just didn't cut it for me. Imagine how I felt when I spotted this beaut at my local Primark! I hardly have any grey pieces in my wardrobe, or huge totes that can fit a laptop and other uni essentials, so it was absolutely perfect.

As you can see, I'm back to being the queen of schoolgirl looks - I did miss my short skater skirts/black tights combo while I was home for the holidays. I also invested in a new wool hat from H&M, since my old one doesn't really go with my current hairstyle. It's super cute and has a band round it, for that extra bit of detail!

OOTD: Printed Midi

Sunday, 31 August 2014
Top: The Editor's Market // Skirt: Stradivarius // Bag: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Zara // Necklace: H&M // Sunglasses: OLLO*

A/W 14 is nearly upon us, although you can't tell where I am right now! My sunnies game is still going strong, courtesy of OLLO's awesome Rayban-esque design.

Nevertheless, I'm loving the bold and complicated prints of the season, which are featured on my (newly-bought) lightweight skirt. I decided to treat myself after recently securing a training contract, which has become more difficult with the recent influx of lawyers in Singapore. Needless to say, I'm immensely relieved!

Stradivarius has a couple of other skirts really similar to this one, and I might just get the whole set. I think they'd look fab with a chunky knit and knee-length coat! What other combinations do you think I can pull off?
